I hope that you are all enjoying the golf at Collingtree Park. The course is playing well and I have had good feedback from you about the condition. The additional spraying and cutting back the rough has made the round a bit more enjoyable.

The big events of July are now behind us. Thank you to Dick Underwood for the Sat Insure Day. It is fast becoming one of the must do dates in our diary. He generously donated the entry fees to the Captain’s charity KidsAid.

The Club Championships new format proved to be a big success. It was great to have so many members and friends there to share the experience and congratulate our Champions. We are very proud of all of you. Steve Jackson has put some pictures from Day One on his website.

Our Handicap League team has excelled this year. Sam Patel has captained the team through to the semi finals. We have been drawn against Hellidon Lakes to be played at the neutral venue of Northants County GC on 16th August. First tee at 2pm. Please try to get along to support our boys. The other semi is

Wellingborough v Northants County to be played at Harlstone on the same day.

The Intermediate and Scratch teams are at an earlier stage in the season. Always good to have new players and I would encourage you to get in touch with Adrian Kilshaw and Brendon Moss if you are a single figure handicapper.

Big Club competitions continue through the holiday month of August. The Medinah Classic (incorporating Colonial 5) is on 9th August. Look out for the Stonhill Founders Trophy as a popular shotgun start on 22nd August.

I am starting to pull together the plans for Captain’s Day on 19th September. It will be a shotgun start with some additional competition activities during and after to entertain and challenge you. Please save the date.

It happens to the best of us. The leading scorer in the Colonial 4 did not sign his card. Gutted for him and not a nice phone call to have for me. Please do check each others cards that they are properly signed and handicap clearly marked.

Michael Knight ran the highly popular Kingsthorpe GC Fantasy Football mini league. He has offered to do that for you. Take a look at the notice board for log in details. The new season is nearly upon us.

Good golfing!
